Above all Cramant is famous for its prestigious Champagnes classified as Grand Cru, Blanc de Blancs.

Cramant, situated to the south of Epernay on the renowned chalky slopes of the Côtes des Blancs, is one of the 17 villages honoured with the label GRAND CRU.

Cramant, a village of 900 persons  is in the middle of The Côte des Blancs. Its name means "Chalk Mount". Indeed, the ground of chalky sediments ensures an excellent drainage and plays a temperature regulator part. Its white color refracts the light and heat, contributing to the fast maturation of the grape.

I Love Cramant

Round and about Cramant: a large forest with many tracks, some pretty country cottages, ponds and chalk cliffs, many paths suitable for vehicles throughout the vineyard and 3 minutes away, the hillock and château of Saran and its "hut" of Monts Aigu, the most prestigious vineyard in all Champagne.  7 Km; Epernay and its famous avenue of Champagne, an amazing sight during the Christmas illuminations.

Don’t miss: the giant champagne bottle 8m tall, the2.5m wire-cap made of wrought iron, the 4m high ivy bear, the sculpture carved in the chalk, a fresco showing the “pupitres” on the walls, and an excellent bakery.

CRAMANT

Voirin Jumel is not a brand  but a Champagne family . The tradition wants that the wife remains in her village. Thus, Mr Gilles Voirin, even if he was coming from a Grand Village as well, leaved  its native village of Chouilly (3km of Cramant nevertheless!) to join Miss Francoise  Jumel.
